Sometimes I get a little nervous reading for a client who expects to receive a message from a loved one in the Spirit World. Such was the case when I met a couple at one of my workshops. They told me there was “someone” they desperately wanted to hear from and telephoned me within a few days for an appointment.
The night before their appointment I lay awake fretting about their reading. What if I disappointed them and did not receive the message they were hoping for? Finally I drifted off to sleep and was awakened sometime in the early morning hours by an urgent ‘voice’. The young woman told me her name and provided details of her grandmother’s house catching on fire. I was convinced that she was the couple’s daughter and this was the person they wanted to hear from.
The communication continued as she urged me to get up and go to the store…there was something she wanted me to purchase. Spirits can be quite demanding at times and this one was certainly persistent! Finally, I told her to “relax, the stores weren’t open yet.” She continued to natter away at me until shortly after 9:00 AM when I finally gave in and drove to the local mall. I had no idea what I was there for, so after parking the car, I headed for the closest store which happened to be the Dollar Store. As I was about to enter the store, my spirit companion insisted that it was the drugstore I should go to.
I found the drugstore a couple of doors down, and without even thinking about it, I marched up the centre aisle to a circular display of jewelry and began to look through the boxes of earrings and necklaces. My spirit companion was obviously searching as well. Soon after she directed me to the bottom shelf of the display, which I had to get down on my knees to see! She chose a pendant, a silver heart with one-half of the heart missing and I paid for it and left the store. At home I wrapped the box in birthday paper as she instructed.
When the couple arrived later that day, I explained that I had received a message from someone I believed was their daughter and gave her name. The couple was quite excited and told me that indeed it was her and yes, the grandmother’s house had burned. When I presented them with the gift from their daughter, the mother got tears in her eyes. She slowly removed the wrappings from the box and quietly examined the pendent on the chain. After a few moments she told me that her birthday was coming up in a couple of days, and that the stone on the heart was her birth stone!
When I mentioned that their daughter had chosen the ‘broken’ heart because one of them was feeling an empty space in their heart that would not heal, the father said it was him. He was having difficulty dealing with his daughter’s death. We went on to have a successful reading together and came up with answers to many of the questions the parents had about their daughter’s death.
Spirits tend to come through stronger when there is unfinished business, especially when a family is left with unanswered questions. I have never forgotten this experience…to be part of a family’s reunion with a loved one is truly a beautiful gift.
